Blueberries

  • Overview - Treat like Azaleas and Camellias - require acid soil and plenty of light mulch (pine needles or pine bark preferred) to protect the roots. While most varieties of Florida Blueberries (primarily Rabbiteye and Southern Highbush) prefer the climate of North Florida, a few varieties will grow well in Central and South Florida. Plant from December through February. Blueberries require cross pollination, so be sure to plant with two or three other bushes of the same variety nearby. Prefers frequent small applications of acid fertilizer.
